Name: Emilia Age: 7 Affiliation: South Mount Orphanage

Emi is a young girl Yamada met while trying to escape his second Moon Gaze. Getting to know her that night and cracking the dam he made to resist his urge to help others set Yamada on his path to change. While he saved her life, he credits her with making his worth living. Emi is a quiet, contemplative child but possesses an indomitable spirit. Her sensible mannerisms and serious mood make her a good match for the flippant Yamada, and the pair have a sibling-like relationship. As a single man, and with his work, it is difficult for Yamada to adopt a young girl formally, but the care system recognises it's good for Emi to interact with an adult she trusts regularly. Yamada has no idea her name is Emilia, because she has only ever called herself Emi in his presence. I do play her on this journal, with her PB being provided by Char Kyonagi of Kagurabachi.

Name: Mimi Tanaka Age: 22 Affiliation: Defence Force

Mimi is the captain of Yamada's squad in the Defence Force. They have a friendly relationship, and he respects her as a person and his superior. She often encourages him to be more positive. Born to a noble family, she was disowned by them as a child due to her disgusting Moonlit ability at a young age. Her cousin, Ryoma Tanaka, left the family to care for her, and both joined the Defence Force. Her mind left her brain and went into her blood, which she can now control at will. She is effectively a mass of sentient blood that puppets a brain-dead body. The body is covered in stitches she uses to eject her blood when needed for combat. She pretends to be a person with the power to control blood, but she is blood that is controlling a person. Mimi is a bright and cheerful person with an eccentric energy. Her cutesy persona is only moderately excited to help put people at ease with her gruesome power. When excited, she tends to end her sentences with onomatopoeia related to her words. She's a talented Combatant and has a charismatic way of making people feel good about themselves, drawing out their best. Mimi considers the Defence Force her family, but is closest with her cousin who is practically her father.

Name: Ryoma Tanaka Age: 38 Affiliation: Defence Force

Ryoma is the Commander of Mount Base, Yamada's division. Yamada didn't get along with him at first because his strict mannerisms felt stifling to the free spirit Yamada. Yamada also assumed Ryoma used his noble birth to wrangle his job. Learning the truth has given Yamada profound respect for him. Ryoma was raised in a noble clan and took his role as heir seriously. He believed all the honourable tenants to his core, as a steward and guardian of others, and that clan loyalty was everything. This all changed when a Moon Gaze impacted a nearby community when he was a young man. His noble family were perfectly willing to sacrifice their commoner employees to save their own skins, which deeply disgusted Ryoma to his core. More fuel was poured on the fire when his young cousin, Mimi, was declared unfit to be part of the family at her lowest point. Ryoma left the clan, launched a stellar career in the Defence Force, and became known as one of the strongest soldiers in the force with an excellent command record. Ryoma rose up the ranks quickly but is no longer an active field agent.

Name: Hanz Age: 32 Affiliation: Defence Force

Hanz is Mimi's lieutenant. Hanz is a mild-mannered, gentle guy who tries to be a voice of reason (or as close as he can get) amongst his eccentric co-workers. He has a much rougher side that he suppresses to maintain his reasonable image. Yamada and Hanz get along well, and Yamada often gets him to relax a bit. Once known by the nickname Hanzome for his handsome face, he was a hand-to-hand combat instructor and something of a playboy. He was extremely unfortunate that a Moon Gaze hit his romantic retreat, and he underwent a strange transformation. Hanz's legs and head were replaced by arms, making him a starfish-shaped man of hands. Hanz has incredible strength and can use his unique arrangement of limbs to move in strange manners. Each finger per hand has a single human sense, but he can only communicate through gestures. Hanz struggled for years with his form, ending up in an underground fight ring, where he fought many a brutal battle. The fights escalated to bringing in Warped, leading to a disastrous escape. When the Defence Force arrived, Mimi encouraged him to help and pulled some strings to avoid punishment for Hanz. Hanz has a profound loyalty toward Mimi and would die for her any day.

Name: Neurosporidium Age: 20 Affiliation: N/A

Neurosporidium emerged in a Moon Gaze 20 years ago, the same one that granted Yamada and Mizuki their powers. Neurosporidium was originally an ordinary bacteria in a Yamada's parent's lab. Under the light of the Moongaze, it became sapient and gained the power to control any lifeform it bonded to. It rapidly spread, infecting humans, Warped and Moonlit, forcing the Defence Force to quarantine the city. With free rein of the city, it began using the humans it captured as lab rats for its inhumane experiments, all in order to discover its true self. The months-long siege ended only thanks to the genius of Doctor Fenwick, but Neurosporidium slipped away to haunt humanity from the shadows. Of the population of two million, only fifteen survived. Neuro was labelled a Phobia, a term for a Warped that represents an existential threat to humanity. The event was labelled the Neurosporidium Incident. Neurosporidium possesses high intelligence but an alien sense of morality. It is not malicious but places no value on human life beyond the information that can be gained from experimenting on it. Despite this, their motivations are familiar to most humans. They yearn to know themselves and undergo a journey of self-discovery. It wishes to know itself, and possess both the body and mind that is its 'true self.' In that respect, its experiments are as much artistic and spiritual as scientific. It has no desire to drive mankind to extinction and believes one day when it is perfect, it can begin helping humanity achieve something similar- if they want it or not. It is presently lying low, infecting sparingly and distantly, which makes detecting and eliminating it difficult. Neuro's abilities allow it to control infinite bodies, always possessing a single mind. Willpower does not come into it- once Neuro has bacteria attached to an organic lifeform, it becomes an extension of Neuro's consciousness. The control extends beyond the conscious mind into the biology of each individual cell, allowing them to mutate the infected in countless ways, turning even an ordinary human into a formidable weapon.
